Crazy Saturday

Oh what a crazy day! The day started with a swim meet. Ellie needed to be in the pool for warm ups at 8:00 am. She finished her last event at about 9:25 so we raced over to watch the first half of Jack's last football game. We were so glad to watch him get a safety. Then we left at halftime to get her to a volleyball game. After that we had lunch with grammy and the kids did get a little time to play. Then in the evening we had Jack's football party. It really seems crazy but I know I need to enjoy the craziness because before I know it they will be grown and I will have free and boring Saturdays again.

She got her swim team sweatshirt and was so proud. She was also really excited because her teacher was there to watch his daughter and give Ellie high fives after each event. She did great swimming backstroke, butterfly and freestyle. She has really improved.
If you look at this picture and think it was a sunny day you are wrong. Jack often wears sunglasses but there really was no need on this day. I think he likes the look! He had a great game and his safety was the last play before half time so I am really happy I got to see it. His team lost 9-12 but he played hard.
We took one of Ellie's best friends to the volleyball game with us. She was supposed to be on the team but she broke her wrist after the first practice. My mom, Doug and Jack made it for the last half of the volleyball game.
At Jack's football party his coaches praised his focus and attention. They also noted his mathmatical abilities. He always knew the score and exactly what kind of scores could put his team ahead. In fact you could hear him on the sidelines saying we just need another touchdown and 2 extra points to win. He is such a smart kid!

Carving pumpkins

So we had trouble even finding time to carve our pumpkins. We squeezed in carving these two before swimming. I even got some pumpkin seeds roasted for a snack before swimming. Jack didn't mind getting goopy this year. And of course Ellie just digs right in!

Pumpkin Patch

So we decided to go back to Bauman's pumpkin patch. It has gotten so big that we have taken a couple year break, but the kids really wanted to go back. It was a gorgeous day(which made the crowds, CRAZY). It was a little like Disneyland, lots of fun stuff to do, lots of lines, the kids having a great time and the parents thinking what are we doing?? However, just like Disneyland I will do it again because the kids loved it. Bauman's has so many great activities, some of their favorites: the jumping pillow, sock hop, obstacle course, dark maze, corn maze, and nut house. We also ran into some friends so that made it even more fun for the kids. And allowed us adults to wait in different lines to help speed up the fun! So of course when the day was over I was exhausted and not ready for a Monday back at work. It didn't help that Monday was going to the Pumpkin patch with my class and that I had been pretty sick the week before. But I am just counting down the days until Thanksgiving break :)

Typical Saturday

It has been so busy since school started. The older they get the more activities and homework they have. It's funny because they are easier and more independent, but there is much more to manage. During our week Jack has football practice Monday and Wednesday. Ellie has swim team on Tuesday and Thursday. Ellie has volleyball Wednesday evening and orchestra Wednesday before school at 7:30. And then Jack is back taking swim lessons on Thursdays. It makes for a busy week, but the kids are happy and healthy so I can't really ask for much more!

Ellie had her first volleyball game
Nothing like watching football in Oregon weather!
