Camping 2010! We have been going every year on an annual camping trip with our friends since Ellie was 1 year old. It is a highlight of the kids' summer. This year we went to Suttle Lake. This year we had 6 families, Hakalas, Fultons, Cyphers, McCartheys, Browns, and Dacars. That makes 11 adults and 14 kids. What a fun group. All I can say is there is ALOT of laughing. I will try to get as many of our funny memories in this post as I can. Camping is whole lot of work for the adults but when you see how much fun the kids have it really is worth it(even with no flush potties).
We brought Brownie this year and she didn't even need her shock collar, so we loaned that to the Cyphers dog Scout. Poor Scout he learned how well that little invention works.
I guess this is the "two man wolf pack". Somehow the guys always seem to go on a lot of "errands" while we are camping.
Jack and Blaine were two peas in a pod. Even in the great outdoors they love the DS. We let them play more than normal because it was not a weekend to say NO. Lucky for them.
The big girls, Jessica(Natalie's friend who has come on many camping trips with us), Natalie, and Delaney
College friends looking oh so pretty! Don't you just love this Jules?? you see camping is not Julie's idea of a good time but we talk her into it every year. And maybe we get a little joy out of watching her suffer.
The big downside to camping this year was this little building. Inside was a toilet with no handle to flush and no sink to wash your hands after you did your business. YUCK! However, it did provide a lot of laughs and provided me with a lot of trips to the lake. I decided that was better than the outhouse. I would prefer flush potties next year but I will laugh every time I remember this!
Julie and I even went for a little cruise around the lake. Donnie gave us quite a ride and I ended up in the lake. I wasn't sure if I would be able to pull myself back into the boat. Boy things get harder as you get older. The next morning my arms were so sore from one ride, but the kids went on ride after ride and were not sore at all.
We had lots of floatation devices which was sometimes a pain in the a@@ to carry to the lake. Luckily the kids are older so they are big helps. But somehow moms always seem to carry a big load.
Where ever we go Jack always manages to need snack time. He and Ethan enjoy snacks with Scout in the background.
Memories of the scene from "Tommy Boy". It was nice when the dads could come and enjoy the lake with the kids.
Definitely a trip to remember. And we didn't even get pictures of Randy's ove glove and the trapped chipmunk. Too many memories to fit into a blog post.
