Fourth of July

We decided to go to the beach for the Fourth of July. We have always wanted to and just never did. We booked a hotel room and Newport and headed out. First we went to the beach. It was sunny and a little chilly but not too bad. There were some rocks and tidepools to explore. After the beach we had a little lounging time in our room. Then we went to Newport's bayfront for dinner and staked out our spot on the pier. We sat right in front of the seals and there was also a man crabbing so that provided lots of entertainment while we waited. Of course the kids also had their taffy to eat. There were lots of illegal fireworks going off and lots of people setting off flares. But Jack was too tired to stay awake for the real show. They put on a great fireworks show. The next morning we went swimming in the hotel pool and played on the beach some more. We stopped at Gallucci's pizza in Lincoln City on the way home. It was a great trip!

Funny how the kids are in swimsuits and I have a big sweatshirt on.
Waiting patiently, they waved their flags at every boat that went by

Check out the seals behind Jack, they took off once the big fireworks started

It got a little chilly

This is called "livin the life" sitting on the deck with a cool drink and a snack
Climbing with Dad
Doug even went swimming(usually it is just me in the water)
The way all of our trips end, with two exhausted kids passed out in the van
