The best day ever AKA my 40th birthday

I wasn't sure what to think about turning 40. I have to say it sounds older than I feel. I decided to make the perfect day for myself. I also thought I should treat myself to some splurges. So I enlisted the help of my best friend Julie. We met at Linfield college, went on a semester abroad in England together and lived together in Tacoma. She is the reason I met my husband and Julie and her husband were our matron of honor and best man at our wedding. She was also there for the birth of Ellie and almost there for the birth of Jack. Our kids are like cousins and well I could go on and on. My day started with a beautiful handmade card from Doug and some beautiful jewelry. When Julie arrived we hit the Nordstrom sale with gusto. Both looking for cute and practical teacher items. Funny we ended up buying 4 of the exact same things. You see Julie has excellent taste.

After lunch it was time to hit the spa. I wanted to have several treatments since that is something I have always wanted to do. We had a massage first, then pedicure, then manicure. It was heaven. I guess there is a reason it would be nice to be rich!
On the way home a thuderstorm hit and it began to rain(which has never happened on my birthday). That made bringing in Nordstrom goods and walking in Pedicure flipflops a little tricky. It also made me laugh which I did a lot!

After changing it was time for dinner at the Roadhouse with my very best friends in the world!

Then my choice afterwards was a cheesy karaoke bar. You see back when we were all younger this is what we did alot! And we never liked the classy joints, a dive was more our style. Well we walked in and right in front of us was a real life wedding party. Flowers, cupcakes, bride and groom! I knew I was in for the perfect night. In fact when it was all over my stomach hurt from laughing so much. It was the random night filled with friends who like to laugh as much as I do.

Looking good so far
I guess I'm not the drinker I used to be, it took me a little bit longer to finish my drink
Doug ran into his old neighbor from Eugene, Funny!
Oh yes, we are singing karaoke and can you see the bride, groom, flowers, and cupcakes! CLASSIC

Tina is always full of surprises. Tina and I met in junior high. We really became friends in high school. We were locker partners senior year. She is so much fun to be around and always makes me laugh.

Drink # 2 at the bar
Panch and Julie even got the wedding party on their feet. They do a great rendition of I Got You Babe.
We even had to bust out our fabulous dance moves, along with the bride.
Great jewels guys! Panch even wore the maroon polo for me.
So here we are all, 40 and FABULOUS
We saw those cupcakes and knew we would have to have some, thanks Pancho!
Tina getting every possible crumb
So I guess 40 can't be too bad if it started off that fun. We finally left the bar close to 1:00. Didn't get to bed until 2:00 and the next day was the all day swim meet(oh joy). The next evening we had our family birthday dinner and the next day was birthday lunch with my mom. I love that the birthday fun keeps going. I think I just need to make July 30th a day to remember every year and then getting older won't be so bad!
